Individual Psychotherapy with Cathy Hitchcock using the
Enneagram: The Enneagram is readily
accessible and applicable to everyday life. Unlike much
of my academic training, which was based on the study of dysfunction,
the Enneagram -- a system of nine different life views,
none better than any other, considers both positive and limiting
qualities. Understanding our own type, or habitual view
of life, can be a springboard for growth and spiritual expansion.
Using the Enneagram in psychotherapy provides the bridge between
psychotherapy and spiritual integration.
Cathy
Hitchcock is a certified Enneagram teacher, having completed
the widely respected Enneagram Professional Training Program with
Helen Palmer and David Daniels, M.D. Helen’s books, The Enneagram
and The Enneagram in Love and Work have been best sellers around
the world. David Daniels is a psychiatrist at Stanford University
who has spearheaded the application of the Enneagram in the field
of psychotherapy and co-created a certified Enneagram teacher training
program that has been recognized by state licensing boards for social
workers and psychologists.
Cathy
occasionally serves as the resident therapist at this training,
providing counseling support for others going through the certification
process.
In addition, Cathy has
certified with Jerome Wagner at Loyola University in Chicago through
Dr. Wagner’s Enneagram Spectrum Training and Certification Program.
Cathy brings knowledge
from both programs to her work. Cathy also brings to her
work an extensive background in gestalt therapy, having trained
for years with Bob Martin, DSW, a founding member of the Gestalt
Institute of Los Angeles. Her own experience as a breast
cancer survivor adds to her compassionate approach to self exploration
through psychotherapy using the enneagram.
Cathy graduated from the University of Washington and
received her Masters in Social Work from Portland State University. She has been
in private practice for 25 years.
